Exploration Seismology (GPHY 7133)
Offered: every alternate year
The exploration seismology course will offer mathematical treatment of
wave propagation theory pertinent to hydrocarbon exploration. The course
will focus on field design criteria for data acquisition and theoretical
aspects of seismic data processing.

Special Processing of Seismic Data (GPHY 7183)
Practical seismic data processing - 2D/3D data. Seismic data structure 2D/3D, conventional processing , post-stack processing for coherence, pre-stack processing of seismic data for amplitude variation with offset (AVO), velocity analysis, residual static, migration, random noise attenuation
Time Series Analysis and Inverse Theory (GPHY 7173)
Z-Transform, Fourier transform, processing time sequences, processing two dimensional data, filtering, linear parameter estimation, non-linear inverse problem, global optimization, simulated annealing and genetic algorithms
